Three judges from the Fifth District Court of Appeal hear three appellate cases in the Old Courthouse in Inverness in April of 2002. During the first case of the morning Judge Earie W. Peterson, Jr., left and Judge Warren H. Cobb listen to an attorney argue his case.

Veterans from across the county posted flags in front of their organizations as part of the observance of Flag Day. Eugene Quinn VFW Post # 4337 member Fred Scheu places some of the 45 flags in front of the post in June of 2002.

Two teens became trapped for four hours inside of an underground cave in the Withlacoochee State Forest. Unconscious and unresponsive, Javanick Henderson is lifted from the cave. He eventually recovered fully from the injuries suffered due to lack of oxygen.

This ultra light aircraft guides six whopping cranes on their final leg of a journey that concluded on a small island off of the Chassahowitzka National Wildlife Refuge.

Cypress Creek is a correctional facility for some of the states most violent youthful offenders. Each year about a dozen inmates receive their high school diploma from the Lecanto institution. On his graduation day this teen sings, "I Believe I can Fly," as a backdrop of razor wire and chain link secure him and the others inside the facility.

The Citrus County Fair is a place for young and old alike. Each Friday during Fair Week students throughout Citrus County are excused from class to attend the fair. The Sea Dragon is one of the more popular rides of the week.

| Each winter the Audubon Society of Citrus County counts a wide variety of birds in the area. Using spotting glasses and note pads the members of the group disburse across the western part of Citrus. This member walks along the Ft. Island Gulf Beach in search of birds. |
